Pakistan’s Online Video Gaming Industry Flourishes, Generates $50m Per Annum

ISLAMABAD: Imran Azhar, Founder and CEO of AzCorp Entertainment, said on Friday that Pakistan’s online video gaming industry flourishing and could generate huge annual revenue currently making 50 million dollars per annum to support the growth of technology.

Talking to a Private news channel, Azhar said that the emerging market will drive 80 to 90% of the market by next year, adding, it is currently considered one of the fastest-growing industries in the world and assists several other sectors, including IT and animation.

He said that Pakistan’s online gaming business has experienced an exceptional boost in recent years, moving it into the top 5 international markets for mobile gaming.

He added that the next emerging industry is online gaming, which is growing at a 30 to 50 percent growth rate.

Azhar stressed for more investment in the game development and animation skills of the youth to get a fair share in the international gaming industry.

He said that Pakistani designers and professionals will have to be trained to compete at the global level by developing quality products. In recent years, Pakistan has made considerable efforts in the sector of Information and Communication Technology, with a special focus on the export of ICT-related products and services.

Hopes for Pakistan’s digital technology export industry

Azhar said that Pakistan’s digital technology export industry will further develop rapidly, with several companies successfully exporting software development, call centre services and other IT-related services to different countries around the world.

He said that the government’s efforts towards technological advances are also promising and youth will be equipped with all the required skills to establish a local gaming and animation industry.
