KARACHI: Pakistan’s Olympic javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, clinched the gold medal in the men’s javelin event at the 35th National Games held at Karachi’s National Bank Stadium. Representing WAPDA, Arshad threw a remarkable 81.81 metres, securing the top spot on the podium.

Silver and Bronze for WAPDA and Pakistan Army

Yasir Sultan of WAPDA followed with a silver medal, recording a throw of 70.77m, while Abrar Ali of Pakistan Army took the bronze with a best effort of 67.68m.

Arshad Nadeem’s Vision for Emerging Talent

Widely regarded as Pakistan’s javelin superstar and an Olympic gold medallist, Arshad Nadeem emphasized the importance of the National Games in unearthing new athletic talent.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, he expressed his confidence that the event would help discover promising athletes.

“National Games will bring out new talent for Pakistan,” he stated, adding that the best performers would be invited to a national camp, potentially representing Pakistan in international competitions next year.

Full Recovery and Focus on Future Competitions

Despite facing injury earlier in the year, Arshad’s performance at the National Games marked his full recovery.

He shared, “I performed well despite the injury this year. I am completely fit now, and I will target the record throw if my fitness remains the same.”

Looking Ahead: International Glory

Arshad, who recently defended his gold at the Islamic Solidarity Games, set his sights on major international events such as the Diamond League, Commonwealth Games, and Asian Games, while continuing to inspire the next generation of javelin throwers.
