LONDON: Pakistan’s top weightlifter-turned-powerlifter, Nooh Dastagir Butt, made a triumphant debut at the Commonwealth Powerlifting Championship, securing four gold medals in the equipped 120+ kg category.
The competition, held in London, saw Butt dominate both the classic and equipped events in his first appearance since transitioning from weightlifting to powerlifting.
Butt put on a stellar performance, beginning with a commanding win in the squat event. He lifted an impressive 340kg to claim his first gold medal of the competition.
He then continued his winning streak in the bench press, where he lifted 210kg to earn his second gold medal. In the deadlift, Butt once again showcased his immense strength by lifting 300kg, securing his third gold.

His cumulative total of 850kg earned him the overall title in the equipped category, adding a fourth gold medal to his tally.
Earlier in the championship, Butt had already displayed his prowess in the classic class, bagging three gold medals and one bronze, cementing his reputation as one of the top powerlifters in the competition.
In total, Butt won an impressive seven gold medals and one bronze, a remarkable achievement for an athlete making his powerlifting debut.
