ISLAMABAD: Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) will resume direct flights from Islamabad to London from March 29, restoring a key international route after a gap of nearly six years, a PIA spokesperson said.
Under the new schedule, the national flag carrier will operate four weekly flights between Islamabad and London. All services will arrive at and depart from Heathrow Airport’s Terminal 4, one of the airport’s most modern terminals, offering enhanced facilities for passengers.
The resumption marks a significant development for PIA, as London was the airline’s first-ever international destination and remains one of its most popular and commercially important routes. The UK continues to be a major market for PIA due to strong passenger demand from the Pakistani diaspora, business travelers and students.
PIA is already operating three weekly flights to Manchester, and the addition of the London service is expected to further strengthen connectivity between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
According to the spokesperson, the restart of the Islamabad–London route reflects the airline’s broader efforts to rebuild its international network, improve service offerings and regain passenger confidence following operational disruptions in previous years.
PIA had suspended several long-haul routes, including London, amid regulatory, financial and operational challenges. In recent months, the airline has been gradually restoring international services as part of a wider restructuring and recovery plan.
