ISLAMABAD: In an apparent move to thwart the potential risk of the confidence vote against Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, the National Assembly (NA) speaker Raja Parvez Ashraf on Tuesday accepted the resignations of 35 MNAs belonging to the Imran Khan-led Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
Asad Qaiser, Qasim Suri, Shehryar Khan Afridi, Pervez Khattak, Ali Amin Gandapur, Imran Khattak, and Murad Saeed are among the lawmakers whose resignations have been accepted.
Other resignations
The resignation of Zartaj Gul, Shehryar Afridi, Mansoor Hayat Khan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi, Noor-ul-Haq Qadri, Hammad Azhar, Shafqat Mehmood, Sadaqat Ali Khan, Ghulam Sarwar Khan, Fawad Ahmed, Amir Dogar, and Alamgir Khan were also accepted.
Subsequently, the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has denotified the 35 MNAs of the main opposition party, PTI.
