ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan’s star all-rounder Mohammad Nawaz has been shortlisted for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month award for November, following his exceptional performances in the recent Tri-Series against Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe.

Nawaz’s contributions with both bat and ball played a pivotal role in Pakistan’s triumph in the tournament. He impressed with the bat, scoring 104 ODI runs at an average of 52.00 and a striking rate of 114.28. His skills with the ball were just as crucial, as he took four wickets in the series.

In the T20I format, Nawaz maintained his all-round prowess, adding 52 runs and taking an impressive 11 wickets at an average of just 12.72.

His standout performance came in the Tri-Series final against Sri Lanka, where Nawaz took a match-winning 3 for 17, which helped seal Pakistan’s victory and earned him the Player of the Series award. Nawaz’s form has been instrumental in his team’s success and has placed him among the top contenders for the prestigious ICC award.

The full shortlist for the ICC Men’s Player of the Month includes two other standout performers: South Africa’s Simon Harmer and Bangladesh’s Taijul Islam. Both spinners had exceptional series in November, with Harmer claiming 17 wickets in South Africa’s historic Test series win over India and Islam taking 13 wickets to lead Bangladesh to a 2-0 Test series victory over Ireland.

Esha Oza Shines in ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy, Nominated for Player of the Month

UAE’s all-rounder and captain, Esha Oza, has been nominated for the ICC Women’s Player of the Month award following her brilliant performances in the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy.

In seven T20Is during the month, Oza amassed 187 runs at a striking rate of 137.50, displaying her ability to both anchor and accelerate innings with ease. Her contribution with the ball was just as impactful, taking 7 wickets at an average of 18.14.

Oza’s most memorable performance came in the UAE’s final match against Namibia, where she scored an unbeaten 68 and claimed two wickets, leading her team to a crucial 28-run victory. Her all-round consistency throughout the tournament earned her the Player of the Tournament award, solidifying her role as a key figure in the UAE’s strong campaign.

Other shortlisted player Shafali Verma, India’s injury replacement for the Women’s World Cup, delivered a match-winning performance in the final, scoring 87 runs off 78 balls with a strike rate of 111.53. She also claimed two crucial wickets, guiding India to their maiden World Cup title and earning Player of the Match honours.

Thipatcha Putthawong, Thailand’s left-arm spinner, has also been selected in the list. She was sensational in the ICC Women’s Emerging Nations Trophy, finishing as the joint leading wicket-taker with 15 wickets. She played a key role in her team’s victory, taking four crucial wickets in the final against Scotland at an economy rate of 4.25.

The Voting Process

The ICC Player of the Month nominees are shortlisted based on their performances throughout the month. The final decision is made by the independent ICC Voting Academy, which includes prominent members of the cricket community such as former players, journalists, and broadcasters.

Fans can also vote, contributing 10% of the overall vote. Winners will be announced in the second week of the month.
