Member of Sikh, Christian and other communities shared their thoughts on 14th August on what an Independence Day means to them and how they celebrate it as Pakistanis.
Harmeet Singh Vows to Take Steps to over Issue of Climate Change
Harmeet Singh, a member of Pakistan’s Sikh community, described August 14th as a day that fills him with pride and reverence. He extended his heartfelt Independence Day greetings to all the viewers of WE News, wishing them a very happy Independence Day. Harmeet Singh urged all Pakistanis to be sincere to their country as responsible citizens. He emphasized the importance of taking a pledge on this day to plant a tree along with raising the green flag, to keep the country green and protect it from climate change. He also said, “Independence Day is a day when we put aside all the differences and come together as one nation.”
Faisal Barkat Lauds Fellow Pakistanis for Their Support
Faisal Barkat, a member of Pakistan’s Christian community, shared how they have been celebrating August 14th. He recounted that every year, he attends church at 8:30 AM with his parents to pray for Pakistan’s prosperity and progress. He expressed gratitude that minorities in Pakistan have been provided with the resources they need and hoped that future generations will continue to receive the same support.
He emphasized that everyone takes good care of each other, fostering a spirit of love and harmony in his workplace and neighborhood. He stressed the significance of living together in peace and supporting one another. “We should share in each other’s joys and sorrows and treat everyone with kindness,” he concluded.
Nimarta Celebrates 14th of August with Zeal
Nimarta, a member of Pakistan’s Hindu community, expressed her deep connection to the land of her birth. “Pakistan is in our blood; it’s our motherland,” she said. Nimarta explained that her family, along with other Hindu families in their neighborhood, celebrate 14th of August with great zeal and enthusiasm. “We decorate our homes, wear green and white, and even host small gatherings where we share stories of Pakistan’s independence. It’s a day when we put aside all differences and come together as one nation,” she remarked.
