BEIJING: The General Administration of Customs of China (GACC) said that Pakistan’s meat exports to China have surged past the $2.6 million mark from January to July 2024. This milestone highlights the increasing demand for Pakistani meat products in the Chinese market and reinforces Pakistan’s role as a significant exporter of high-quality meat.
Owais Mir, Chairman of the DEA Group and a leading meat exporter said that boiled beef has been the main driver behind this growth. “The rise in popularity of Pakistani boiled beef among Chinese consumers is attributed to its superior quality and competitive pricing, which make it a preferred choice for importers in China,” Mir explained.
Mir also pointed out that this achievement reflects the joint efforts of both Pakistan and China to strengthen their economic ties. “This expansion in meat trade showcases the collaborative initiatives by both governments to explore new areas of cooperation,” he added in an interview with China Economic Net. He expressed optimism for continued growth in the sector, which he believes will further enhance the economic partnership between the two nations.
Chaudhary Javed Saleem, a key figure in the meat and agricultural products industry, shared a positive outlook on the ongoing trend in meat exports. He emphasized the commitment of both governments to deepen economic relations and explore new opportunities in the agricultural sector.
The impressive growth in Pakistan’s meat exports to China underscores the country’s efforts to diversify its export portfolio and boost global competitiveness. During the first seven months of 2024, Pakistan exported 540 tons of boiled meat to China, valued at $2.607 million. Currently, Mongolia and Pakistan are the top exporters of boiled meat to China, with Mongolia exporting 1,640 tons in the same period.
It is worth noting that the GACC authorized Pakistani companies to export boiled meat to China last year. To date, three Pakistani companies have been registered with the GACC for this purpose. The continued rise in meat exports is anticipated to strengthen Pakistan’s economy and further solidify the economic bonds between Pakistan and China.
