Pakistan’s Kalash Valley Launches Green Initiative to Reduce Flooding Risks

CHITRAL: Kalash Valley Development Authority distributed free saplings among students of Government High School Bron Bomburit to promote greenery in the area.

Director General KVDA, Minhasuddin, graced the occasion as the guest. A brief event at High School Bron featured the school principal and experts, who emphasized the significance and advantages of trees and plants.

In the plantation drive, the forest department, with the assistance of a non-governmental organization, provided 25,000 saplings free of cost to the school. Director General Minhasuddin, speaking at the event, mentioned distributing 700 fruit trees to locals for free, underlining their importance and the necessity of nurturing them.

Highlighting Chitral’s dry climate, Minhasuddin stressed the role of trees in mitigating flood risks, educating attendees that trees serve as natural barriers against floods.

Principal Sanaullah emphasized the need to educate the younger generation about the importance of plants for healthier lives.

Project Manager Owais Ahmed shared that over 4,000 free plants were distributed in Kalash Valley, with children educated on their benefits. He noted that a single plant provides approximately Rs. 70,000 worth of oxygen annually and contributes significantly to a greener, cleaner environment in Chitral.
