Pakistan’s Independence Day Celebrated in New York

NEW YORK: The 76th Independence Day of Pakistan was celebrated with great enthusiasm by the Pakistan House in New York on Monday.

Pakistan Ambassador to United Nations Munir Akram hoisted the national flag during the event, jointly organized by the Permanent Mission of Pakistan to the UN and Consulate General to the US and attended by officials and staff members.

The joint ceremony commenced with a recitation from the Holy Quran. During the event, President Dr. Arif Alvi’s message for the occasion was read out by Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the UN, Aamir Khan, while Talat Gondal, the Trade and Commerce Officer at the Consulate, conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s message.

Significance of Lahore Resolution in Pakistan’s History

During his speech, Ambassador Akram emphasized the significance of the Lahore Resolution, an important moment that paved the way for the creation of Pakistan. He also paid tribute to the founder Quaid-e-Azam Mohammad Ali Jinnah’s leadership and the sacrifices made by the Muslims of the subcontinent during the struggle for independence.

The ceremony concluded with a prayer for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan.
