KABUL: A security guard of the Pakistan embassy in Kabul was seriously injured when unknown assailants opened fire at the Head of Pakistan’s Mission at the embassy premises here on Friday, local media reported.
According to media reports, the Head of Mission of Pakistan’s embassy in Kabul was attacked when he was walking inside the embassy premises. A security guard of the embassy was hit by three bullets and sustained critical injuries as he tried to guard the embassy official.
Pakistan’s Embassy Security Guard Critically Injured
The injured security guard was shifted to the hospital for medical treatment where his condition is stated to be critical.
The spokesperson of the Foreign Office has rejected the news reports about calling back embassy officials from Kabul. In conversation with World Echo, the spokesperson said that the PAK embassy staff is neither being recalled nor the PAK embassy in Kabul is being closed, there is no truth in such news.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the assassination attempt and demanded immediate investigation and action against the perpetrators.
Pakistan’s Foreign Office in a statement confirmed the attack and said that the compound of the Embassy of PAK in Kabul came under attack today targeting the Head of Mission, Ubaid-ur-Rehman Nizamani. “By the grace of Allah Almighty, the Head of Mission is safe.
However, a Pakistani security guard Sepoy Israr Mohammad has been critically injured in the attack while protecting the Head of Mission” Foreign Office said.
“The Government of PAK strongly condemns the assassination attempt against the Head of Mission and the attack on the embassy compound in Kabul.
The Interim Government of Afghanistan must immediately hold thorough investigations into attack, apprehend the culprits, hold them to account, and take urgent measures to ensure the safety and security of PAK diplomatic personnel and citizens in Afghanistan,” the Foreign Office statement added.
