ISLAMABAD: Ilham Aliyev, President of Azerbaijan, has said that Pakistan’s Gawadar Port offers a great opportunity for regional connectivity. He said this while addressing an international conference titled “Along the Middle Corridor: Geopolitics, Security and Economy, in Baku.
The Azerbaijan President said that connecting our infrastructure with the port is not a big deal.
He noted that regional connectivity will provide new trade opportunities and that all the regional countries need to establish a foundation for honest cooperation with each other.
Azerbaijan President Appreciates Pakistan for Continuous Support
The President appreciated Pakistan for extending continuous support to Azerbaijan in the context of Armenia-Azerbaijan relations. He said Azerbaijan’s people highly value Pakistan’s moral and political support.
The President of Azerbaijan termed Pakistan and Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as a close friend and a brother. He said the decision to give a five-year tax exemption on the import of Pakistani rice is the outcome of his meetings with Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. “When we can get good quality rice from our brotherly nation then why shall we procure it from somewhere else,” he maintained. He said this decision is also a reflection of our fraternal ties.
