Pakistan’s Foreign Reserves Shed to $ 12.53 billion

ISLAMABAD: The total liquid foreign reserves of the country on Thursday settled at US$ 12,535.5 million while the reserves held by the central bank settled at $ 7,396.7 million, according to a statement issued by the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

As per the statement reserves of the country witnessed a decrease by $ 115 million to stand at $ 7,396.7 million due to the debt repayments during the week ended on November 10, 2023.

Meanwhile, the net foreign reserves held by commercial banks settled at $ 5,138.8 million, the statement added.

In the previous week ending on November 3, 2023, the total liquid foreign reserves held by the country were recorded at US$ 12,614.2 million comprising $ 7,511.5 million from the central bank and $ 5,102.7 million from commercial banks.

Possible Increase in Foreign Reserves

Experts believe the total reserves of the country might witnessed an increase after the recent agreement with the IMF. After receiving the second tranche of $700 million of the Stand-By Agreement the foreign reserves of the country would be increased in a couple of weeks with some more possible inflows from the multilateral donors.
