ISLAMABAD: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will travel to Riyadh on March 18–19 to participate in a meeting of regional foreign ministers, the Foreign Office said on Wednesday.

According to an official statement, Dar will use the platform to reiterate Pakistan’s stance amid escalating tensions in the Middle East. He is expected to express full support for the sovereignty, territorial integrity and political independence of countries in the region, while calling for an end to attacks on their territories.

The foreign minister will also stress the need for an immediate ceasefire and a return to dialogue and diplomacy. He is likely to highlight Pakistan’s ongoing diplomatic efforts and its commitment to playing a constructive role in promoting regional stability.

The visit comes as the conflict involving the United States, Israel and Iran continues to intensify, further destabilising the region. Iranian state media reported missile strikes targeting Tel Aviv in response to Israel’s assassination of a senior Iranian security figure.

The ongoing hostilities have disrupted key infrastructure and energy routes, particularly through the Strait of Hormuz, while widespread airspace closures have led to tens of thousands of flight cancellations, impacting global travel and trade.
