ISLAMABAD: The 10th Commonwealth Youth Ministerial Meeting (CYMM) meeting will be held next week in London to discuss empowering youth in the member countries.
Pakistan’s Foreign Minister Jalil Abbas Jilani will preside over the 10th meeting taking place in London from September 12 to 15.
The Commonwealth Secretariat is organizing this event as Pakistan assumes the role of Chair, actively contributing to shaping the agenda leading up to the Commonwealth Heads of Government Summit scheduled for next year in Samoa, read a statement from the Foreign Office.
The theme of this meeting is “Aim Higher: Delivering More for Young People in the Commonwealth,” aligning with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. During his stay in London, the foreign minister is expected to hold discussions with participating ministers and senior officials from the Commonwealth.
Commonwealth Youth Ministerial Meeting and Pakistan’s Commitment
Pakistan places significant importance on its relationship with the Commonwealth and the renowned Commonwealth Youth Programme, which is celebrating its fiftieth anniversary.
As the Commonwealth and the Government of Pakistan jointly commemorate 2023 as the “Year of Youth,” Pakistan remains dedicated to the economic empowerment and meaningful engagement of young people.
The upcoming meeting will delve extensively into the four core areas of education, employment, engagement, and environment, as identified in the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP).
