COLOMBO: Pakistan Women’s campaign in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 came to an early end as their final group-stage match against Sri Lanka Women was abandoned due to rain at the R. Premadasa International Cricket Stadium, Colombo.

The encounter, already reduced to a 34-over contest because of earlier showers, saw only 4.2 overs of play before rain returned to halt proceedings permanently. Pakistan, put into bat, managed 18 runs without loss, with openers Omaima Sohail and Muneeba Ali at the crease.

It marked the third washout in Pakistan’s last four matches, with rain also affecting their games against England and New Zealand, while their clash with South Africa was decided via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method.

Despite the weather disruptions, Pakistan showcased resilience throughout the tournament, but the frequent interruptions ultimately denied them a fair chance to progress further.
