Pakistan’s Fight Against Terrorism to Continue: Army Chief

RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir on Tuesday visited Tirah Valley of Khyber district a border area of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, ISPR said.

The COAS spent day with forward troops deployed along Pakistan – Afghanistan Border. He was brief by field commander about operational preparedness and border control measures in place as part of Western Borders Management Regime, ISPR said in a press release.

While interacting with officers and soldiers, the COAS appreciated them for their operational readiness and high morale in the line of duty, ISPR said. 

The COAS said that writ of the state has been established due to great sacrifices by the security forces and tribal people. “With the support of the nation, our fight against terrorism will continue till enduring peace and stability is achieved,” COAS reiterated.

The Army Chief said that defence of the country will be ensured at any cost and there would not be any space for the spoilers of the peace. “Will not allow anyone to disrupt the hard-earned gains of war against terror made thus far,” the army chief concluded.

Later, the Army Chief visited Corps Headquarters Peshawar and laid floral wreath to pay homage to Shahuada.

During his visit, the Army Chief was also briefed about training, operational, and other affairs of the formation including efforts to maintain secure environment for development projects to develop the newly merged districts of the country.

Earlier, Lieutenant General Hassan Azhar Hayat, Corps Commander Peshawar received the COAS on his arrival.
