ISLAMABAD: The Federal Cabinet of Pakistan, led by Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, granted approval on Wednesday for the deployment of the Pakistan Army in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces, as well as in the Islamabad Capital Territory.
The decision was made in response to the prevailing law and order situation, based on a recommendation from the Ministry of Interior.
During the cabinet meeting, an overview of the country’s overall situation was discussed, and strong condemnation was expressed for the violent incidents that resulted in property damage in various cities, as stated by the PM Office Media Wing in a press release.
Federal cabinet criticizes PTI, Imran Khan
The meeting criticized the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) and its chairman, Imran Khan, for consistently launching verbal attacks against national institutions and their leadership.
It noted that the PTI had been making baseless allegations and attempting to drag national institutions into politics for a considerable period.
The meeting highlighted that the PTI leadership, with a deliberate strategy, had been targeting intelligence agencies and their officers, which had escalated into terrorist attacks on sensitive installations and buildings.
“The more we condemn this behavior, the less it will be,” stated the meeting, emphasizing that such an approach aligned with the PTI’s historical methods of operation, but had now reached an extreme level.
It stressed that this attitude was unconstitutional, illegal, undemocratic, and driven by terrorism and animosity towards the country, which would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
