PARIS: Pakistan’s Ambassador to France, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, expressed disappointment at the silence surrounding the repeated and blatant violations of international humanitarian law against innocent civilians in the occupied Palestinian territories.
He made these remarks during the 217th session of the UNESCO Executive Board on Palestine, highlighting the 15-year illegal blockade of Gaza as a factor that has emboldened those responsible for such crimes.
Ambassador Ahmad stressed that the core of the dispute lies in the silence and unwillingness to address aggression and illegal occupation persisting for over seven decades.
Reaction to Gaza hospital Bombing
Pakistan has openly declared its position and strong condemnation of the airstrike on the Gaza hospital, and the government is taking steps to provide humanitarian aid to Gaza.
He characterized this silence as intellectual bankruptcy, emphasizing the need for deep introspection to deliver justice. He called on the international community to take urgent action to halt the Israeli bombardment and siege of Gaza.
Moreover, Ambassador Ahmad urged the international community to collaborate towards achieving a just, comprehensive, and enduring peace, leading to the establishment of a viable, sovereign, and contiguous State of Palestine with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, based on the pre-1967 borders.
