SINGAPORE: The High Commissioner of Pakistan to Singapore Rukhsana Afzaal attended the swearing-in ceremony of the newly appointed Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, at the Presidential Palace.

The event marked a major milestone as Wong took office as Singapore’s leader.

During the ceremony, the new cabinet also took the oath of office.

Notable among them was Lee Hsien Loong, who assumed the role of senior Minister in the new cabinet after serving the country as prime minister for two decades.

High Commissioner Rukhsana Afzaal’s presence at the ceremony highlighted the strong diplomatic relations between Pakistan and Singapore.

PM Lawrence Wong Warns of More Conflict-ridden World

After taking the oath, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong warned that the trade-dependent city-state faced a riskier, more conflict-ridden world.

Wong, formerly deputy prime minister, became only the second leader outside of the Lee family to helm the affluent country as he was inaugurated at the Istana government office.
