ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, held a significant interaction with prominent scholars from the Ahl-e-Tasheeh community in Rawalpindi, focusing on national security issues and the role of religious leadership in fostering social cohesion, military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), said in a statement on Thursday.
During the meeting, the CDF, emphasized the crucial responsibility of Ulema in promoting unity, tolerance, and harmony within society. He noted that religious scholars play a key role in countering misinformation, discouraging sectarian divisions, and resisting efforts by external actors to destabilize the country.
Referring to Operation Ghazab lil Haq, Field Marshal Munir reiterated Pakistan’s firm stance against terrorism, particularly stressing that Afghan territory must not be used for launching attacks against Pakistan.
He called on the Afghan Taliban to ensure their soil is not exploited by terrorist groups and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to dismantling terrorist networks through precise, intelligence-driven operations wherever necessary.
The CDF also highlighted Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing regional tensions, underlining the importance of maintaining peace through proactive engagement.
He urged religious leaders to actively contribute to countering extremist ideologies and to ensure that religious sentiments are not manipulated to incite violence within the country.
He made it clear that acts of violence in Pakistan, especially those triggered by incidents in other countries, would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
The participating scholars expressed strong support for peace and stability, unequivocally condemning violence carried out in the name of religion.
They also reaffirmed their commitment to working alongside law enforcement agencies to promote harmony and strengthen national unity.
