ISLAMABAD: In an effort to make the country self-reliant in the energy sector, Pakistan’s Exploration and Production (E&P) companies have collectively discovered 16 hydrocarbon reservoirs during the last fiscal year 2021-22.
According to the official document, 10 discoveries were made in Sindh’s oil and gas fields, four in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and one in the Punjab and Balochistan provinces of Pakistan.
The E&P firms have started extracting gas and oil from seven of these newly discovered reservoirs in Sindh. These reservoir wells included Naimat West DT-1 in Sanghar district, Taj-1, located in Tando Allahyar district, Fazil-1 in Ghotki district, Mulaki West-1 & Turk South-1 and Bhatti North-1 in Badin district, and Mohar in Khairpur district.

E&P companies produce 1258.98 barrels per day
Currently, the accumulative oil and gas production of Pakistan’s E&P companies stood at 10.91 million cubic feet per day and 1258.98 barrels per day, respectively.
Under their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programmes, the E&P companies regularly carry out several development projects in the surrounding areas of their operational fields for the welfare of local communities.

Accordingly, during the last five years, the companies have collectively deposited PKR 3108.309 million in joint bank accounts of DCs/DCOs of different districts of Sindh.
