ISLAMABAD: Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja provided insights into the preparations for the upcoming elections during an informal discussion with journalists in Islamabad on Friday.
He emphasized that crucial steps, such as publishing constituencies and determining election schedules, are being undertaken in a timely manner to ensure a smooth electoral process.
Commissioner Raja highlighted that the Election Commission is diligently working ahead of schedule, assuring that the election schedule and the appointment of Returning Officers (ROs) and District Returning Officers (DROs) will be executed promptly. Responding to inquiries about the election timeline, he directed attention to counting back 54 days from the scheduled election date of February 8.
The Election Commission had previously announced the nationwide elections set for February 8. In alignment with this, the commission recently released the final list of National and Provincial Assembly constituencies.
The list comprises 266 constituencies for the general seats of the National Assembly and 593 constituencies for the general seats of provincial assemblies across the country.
As the election preparations unfold, Chief Election Commissioner Sikandar Sultan Raja’s assurance of adherence to timelines and systematic planning reflects a commitment to conducting fair and transparent elections.
