ADELAIDE: Pakistan’s squash sensation, Ashab Irfan, secured a dominant victory at the South Australian Open Squash Championship 2025, defeating Malaysia’s Duncan Lee in a straight-set final to claim his second professional title of the year.
The top-seeded Irfan delivered an impressive performance in the final held in Adelaide, winning with scores of 11-8, 12-10, and 11-9.
His relentless form throughout the tournament saw him clinch the title without dropping a single game in the final.
Irfan’s triumph not only marks a significant personal milestone but also serves as a proud moment for Pakistan, a country with a storied legacy in international squash.
This win adds to his growing reputation as one of the brightest prospects in the Professional Squash Association (PSA) circuit.
The 21-year-old began his campaign with a bye in the first round due to his top seed ranking. In the second round, he comfortably overcame Hong Kong’s Lee Chung, before edging out Malaysia’s Joachim Chuah in a thrilling five-setter in the quarter-final.
In the semi-final, Irfan faced compatriot and fellow promising talent Hamza Khan, securing a commanding 3-0 win with scores of 11-3, 11-8, and 11-7.
The final saw Irfan outclass Duncan Lee, maintaining composure in key moments to seal victory in straight sets and claim his sixth PSA title. The championship carried a total prize purse of $9,000.
Irfan, currently ranked 62nd in the PSA world rankings, has been steadily climbing the ladder with consistent performances on the international stage.
Earlier this year, he won the RC Pro Series 2025, and his recent triumph in Adelaide further consolidates his position as one of Pakistan’s most promising squash talents.
