ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff (COAS), General Syed Asim Munir, is on an official two-day official visit to the Republic of Uzbekistan to strengthen military-to-military cooperation and defense collaboration between the two nations, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a press release.
During his visit, COAS General Asim Munir held important meetings with high-ranking Uzbek officials, including President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, the Defense Minister, and the Chairman and Secretary of the State Security Service of Uzbekistan. During the meetings, the COAS also emphasized upon enhancing mutual training cooperation and intelligence sharing between Pakistan and Uzbekistan.
COAS Appreciates Uzbekistan’s Military Forces
General Syed Asim Munir expressed his appreciation for the training standards and readiness of the Uzbekistan Military Forces and their comprehensive understanding of regional security issues.
Upon his arrival at the Ministry of Defense in Uzbekistan, COAS General Asim Munir received a warm welcome and was honored with a Guard of Honour by a smartly turned-out contingent. In a gesture of respect and remembrance, the COAS also laid a floral wreath at the Memorial Complex of Martyrs in Tashkent.
The visit aimed to bolster the existing defense cooperation between Pakistan and Uzbekistan and explore opportunities for future collaboration in defense and security matters.
