RAWALPINDI: General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) of Pakistan, on Friday visited Quetta Garrison, where he was briefed on the recent terrorist attack in Zhob, according to a press release from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
During his visit, the COAS paid tribute to the martyrs, met with injured soldiers at CMH Quetta, and commended their dedicated service to the nation.
The Armed Forces of Pakistan have expressed serious concerns regarding the safe havens and freedom of action enjoyed by the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan, ISPR said. It is expected that the interim Afghan government would fulfill its commitments made in the Doha Agreement and not allow its territory to be used for terrorism against any country, ISPR said.
Afghan Nationals Involvement in Terrorism Acts in Pakistan
Another crucial concern highlighted by the COAS is the involvement of Afghan nationals in acts of terrorism in Pakistan. Such attacks are deemed unacceptable and will elicit a strong response from Pakistan’s security forces, ISPR said.
The Army Chief emphasized that operations against terrorists will continue without any letup, and the Armed Forces are determined to eradicate the menace of terrorism from the country.
Upon his arrival in Quetta, General Syed Asim Munir was received by the Commander Quetta Corps.
