RAWALPINDI: Pakistan’s military on Friday refuted reports of martial law’s imposition in the country following an almost four-day political turmoil in the country.
Talking to a private television channel, Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry categorically rejected the impression of imposing Martial Law.
He said, “I want to say very clearly that Chief of the Army Staff General Asim Munir and the army’s leadership completely support democracy and will continue to do so”. The DG ISPR added, “ The imposition of martial law in the country is out of the question,”.
He said, “The COAS and the army’s top leadership completely believe in democracy,”.
He rejected all the baseless propaganda and said “the country’s army is united and will remain united under the leadership of the Chief of Army Staff”. He further maintained that no one has resigned.
