ISLAMABAD: An anti-terrorism court (ATC) on Tuesday discharged Bushra Bibi, the wife of PTI founder Imran Khan, in 12 cases related to the May 9 riots that followed her husband’s arrest last year.

ATC Rawalpindi a day ago dismissed petitions seeking post-arrest bail for Bushra, asking the police to complete the investigation within seven days.

Meanwhile, Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Minagul Hassan Aurangzeb referred a petition to the IHC chief justice seeking details of the cases against her.

The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) Judge Malik Ejaz Asif after hearing the case discharged Bushra Bibi in 12 cases related to the May 9 riots.

Bushra’s lawyer Salman Safdar while speaking to the media outside Adiala jail, said that the Rawalpindi police had asked the courts to give physical remand of her, however, the court dismissed the request.

Safdar said that the decision of the court would impact the cases of the PTI founder.

In another development, accountability judge Nasir Javed Rana rejected the petition of Bushra Bibi seeking a report of the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) meeting of the executive board.

The petition stated that the board had decided to close the investigation in the Toshakhana case. NAB’s prosecution stated that the inquiry had been recommenced after the inquiry team acquired fresh evidence.
