ANKARA: While declaring the Kashmir Black Day the most tragic day in the history of Indian illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), Pakistan’s ambassador to Turkiye Dr Yousaf Junaid, on Wednesday, said India was resorting to the same tactics of demographic change similar to Israel by settling non-Kashmiris in the occupied valley.
The envoy, addressing a ceremony to mark Kashmir Black Day organized at the embassy, underscored the atrocities committed by Indian forces against Kashmiris.
He said the Kashmiris were living in a situation in the valley where they were humans without human rights.
The envoy said that Palestine and Kashmir represented unceasing situations of foreign occupation in the modern world, where excessive military occupations had not only denied the people their fundamental right to self-determination but also unleashed a reign of terror on innocent civilians.
Human Rights Investigation Commission of Turkish Parliament Chairperson Derya Yanik, lawmaker Burhan Kayaturk, President SDE Guray Alpar, and representatives of media, civil society, and think tanks attended the event.
Turkiye Supports Peaceful Resolution of Kashmir Issue
In her speech, Derya Yanik said that supporting Kashmir was the requirement of international law and conscience. Ankara has always supported a peaceful resolution of the Kashmir issue as per the desire of the Kashmiri people and would continue to do so.
While expressing concerns over the worst human rights situation in IIOJK, she urged the international community to play its role in putting an end to human rights atrocities in the valley and implementing UN resolutions to ensure peace and stability in the region.
