ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ayla Majid has been elected as the vice president of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), making her the first woman from South Asia to be appointed to the position in the 118-year history of the prestigious global financial accounting body.
ACCA Pakistan, on its official Twitter account, shared the news of Majid’s appointment and congratulated her.
The tweet read that Majid is a strong proponent of women in governance and an advocate of sustainability and energy transition.
Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri, former spokesperson of Pakistan foreign office, also congratulated her on her achievement in a tweet. Majid joined ACCA in 2006 and has been serving in ACCA’s global council since 2014. She possesses high-level governance and leadership experience across multiple sectors.
