ISLAMABAD: Amid renewed hostility at the Pak-Afghan border at Chaman, a four-member delegation of Pakistani religious clerics will visit Afghanistan for reconciliation and to stop the cross-border firing incidents since the attack by the Afghan forces killed one civilian and injured fifteen others on 15 December.

It was the second time in just five days that the Afghan border forces carried an unprovoked and indiscriminate firing attack across the border, using heavy weapons and targeting the civilian area and innocent citizens in Chaman, Balochistan.

According to Law Enforcement Agencies, Afghan forces fired multiple artillery rounds upon the civilian population around the Custom House and Boghra Road. The Pakistani forces responded befittingly and silenced their guns.

Talks with Afghan leaders over border situation

The administration of Chaman district said that the ulema’s delegation would hold talks with Afghan Defence Ministry and other officials in Kabul and Kandahar and meet key Taliban leaders, Geo News reported on Sunday.

Officials said that due to the ulema delegation visit, Pak-Afghan security forces postponed the flag meeting.
