ISLAMABAD: Pakistani security forces have successfully foiled another infiltration attempt from across the Pak-Afghan border, detaining five suspected suicide bombers—all Afghan nationals aged between 15 and 18—security sources said on Friday.
The incursion took place on Thursday evening, when militants breached the border at approximately 6:25 PM and moved towards the Azizkhel and Mandikhel areas. Prior intelligence had alerted security forces, who responded by setting up blockades at five strategic points.
Encountering a strong security presence, the infiltrators took shelter in a mosque located in the Baisikhel area. The mosque was swiftly cordoned off by security personnel, who managed to secure the militants’ surrender without any confrontation.
Sources confirmed that three of the apprehended suspects were in possession of Afghan national identity cards. All five have been moved to an undisclosed location for further investigation.
Authorities have heightened security measures in the border region, with search operations still underway. Officials noted that this was not an isolated event.

Over recent months, several similar attempts have been thwarted. From April 25 to 27, security forces eliminated 71 militants during operations in North Waziristan. On July 4, 30 militants reportedly backed by India were killed while attempting to cross the border, while another 16 were neutralised on March 23 in a comparable infiltration attempt.
Security officials have reiterated that these cross-border incursions are part of a larger strategy allegedly supported by India to foment unrest in Pakistan through militant proxies.
