RIYADH: In a thrilling showdown, a Pakistani videogaming trio emerged victorious in the Gamers8 Tekken 7 Nations Cup held in Saudi Arabia, defeating South Korea with a score of 3-2.

The tournament, organized by the Saudi Esports Federation, took place in Riyadh from July 6 to 9 and featured 16 national teams from around the world competing for a total prize pool of $1 million.

The Pakistani team, consisting of Arslan “Ash” Siddique, Atif Butt, and Imran Khan, showcased their exceptional skills throughout the tournament. They reached the final by triumphing over the United Kingdom with a score of 2-1 in the semi-final and achieving a convincing 3-0 victory over South Korea in the upper-bracket final.

Pakistan as Best Tekken Region Globally

Following their impressive win, Siddique expressed his pride, declaring Pakistan as the best Tekken region globally in a tweet. Butt expressed gratitude for his time in the tournament and commended his teammates for their remarkable performance.

This triumph adds to Siddique’s already illustrious gaming career. In April, he secured the championship title in the Tekken 7 competition at EVO Japan 2023. In 2019, he achieved victory in the Tekken 7 tournament in Japan and emerged as the champion of the Evolution Championship Series in the United States. Khan, on the other hand, attained second place in the EVO 2022 Tekken 7 competition last year.

Butt also made a significant mark in the gaming world, earning the title of the new “King of the Iron Fist” in February after emerging victorious in the Tekken World Tour 2022 videogame tournament held in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The Pakistani trio’s triumph in the Gamers8 Tekken 7 Nations Cup further solidifies their reputation as top-tier Tekken players and showcases the country’s talent in the gaming arena.
