ISLAMABAD: A delegation of seven Pakistani undergraduate students and a working youth has been invited by the Government of Japan to participate in the Japan-SAARC Network Program of People–to-People Exchange, known as JENESYS (Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths).

The visit, scheduled from December 11 to 19, 2023, aims to foster connectivity and economic cooperation under the theme of this year’s program.

JENESYS, initiated by the Japanese Government, serves as a youth exchange program promoting mutual trust and understanding among Japan and the Asia-Pacific region. During their stay in Japan, the Pakistani youth will have opportunities to delve into various aspects of Japan, including its economy, society, history, politics, and diplomatic relations. Cultural experiences will be integrated into the program through lectures and visits.

A pre-departure orientation session was conducted by the Embassy of Japan to equip the visiting group with valuable information before their journey to Japan. His Excellency Wada Mitsuhiro, the Ambassador of Japan to Pakistan, extended congratulations to the selected students, emphasizing that the youth exchange program presents a unique and life-changing opportunity for them to gain insights into Japan.

Ambassador Wada stressed the significance of people-to-people exchanges, particularly among the youth, as a crucial element in promoting mutual understanding and fostering friendly relations between nations. He expressed hope that the Pakistani students would make the most of their time in Japan, learning about its life, culture, and historical heritage, and subsequently sharing their enriching experiences with their peers.

In the JENESYS 2023 program, a total of 56 undergraduate/graduate students and working youth from SAARC countries have been invited by the Government of Japan, reflecting the program’s commitment not only to promote capacity building but also to enhance mutual understanding among the youth of Japan and SAARC nations.
