BEIJING: Pakistani squad has entered the stadium amongst loud clapping at the opening ceremony of the International University Sports Federation World University Games in Chengdu, China, local media reported on Saturday.
A six-member squad, comprising 5 athletes and one official, are representing Pakistan in the Games.
In a statement via social media, Pakistan’s envoy to China, Moin Ul Haque said, “Proud moment to have the Pakistani squad enter the stadium amongst loud clapping at the opening ceremony of World University Games, Chengdu. The ceremony is also being graced by Chinese President Xi himself,”.

The envoy attended the opening ceremony of the FISU World University Games in Chengdu, China.
Also known as Universiade, the 12-day sports show officially opened in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, on Friday night, as declared by China’s President Xi Jinping.
The mega event, which runs from July 28 to August 8, has attracted about 6,500 players from over 113 nations and regions to participate across 18 disciplines.
