Pakistani Rupee Gains Rs1.05 Against US Dollar Amid Continues Appreciation

ISLAMABAD: The appreciation of the Pakistani Rupee continued for the 17th consecutive session as the local currency gained another Rs1.05 against the American dollar in the interbank trading and closed at Rs288.75 as compared to Rs289.80 last day, reported by State Bank of Pakistan (SBP).

The local currency has appreciated for over Rs18 during the last three weeks as in the first week of this month, the Pakistan currency was traded at a record low of Rs307 against the dollar in the interbank.

Meanwhile, the local currency received the same treatment of appreciation in the open market and according to the Forex Association of Pakistan (FAP), the buying and selling rates of the dollar in the open market settled at Rs287.6 and Rs290.5 respectively.

Like the interbank, the Pakistan rupee got an appreciation of over Rs40 in the open market during these days and was traded over Rs330 three weeks before against the dollar.

Pakistani Rupee Against Other Currencies

Like the greenback, the Pakistan Rupee appreciated against the Euro where the price of the latter went down by Rs 1.86 to settle at Rs305.03 against Rs306.89, last day as reported by SBP.

The Japanese Yen decreased by 01 paisa to settle at Rs1.93, whereas the British Pound recorded a decline of Rs 2.29 and was traded at Rs350.74 as compared to Rs353.03 on Tuesday.

The exchange rates of the Saudi Riyal and the Emirates Dirham went down by 28 paisa each to close at Rs76.97 and Rs78.61 respectively.
