RAWALPINDI: The Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has called off its seventh-day pro-Palestinian protest sit-in at Faizabad after successful talks with the federal government regarding its demands.
The decision was announced in a joint press conference by TLP leaders and Prime Minister’s Advisor on Political Affairs, Rana Sanaullah, here in the federal capital.
Rana Sanaullah said that the TLP’s protest was in response to Israeli aggression in Palestine, which the government also condemns, particularly denouncing Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s war crimes.
“The government will press the United Nations to bring Israeli PM Netanyahu to justice for his terrorism and war crimes,” Rana Sanaullah said.
Pakistan reaffirmed its support for the oppressed Palestinian community, promising to dispatch over 1,000 tons of food and medicine by July 31.
Regarding Israel, Rana Sanaullah reiterated strong condemnation, labeling Israel as a terrorist state and criticizing Netanyahu’s military actions targeting innocent civilians in Gaza. He stressed that such bombings are inhumane and contrary to religious teachings.
Earlier, the TLP had staged a sit-in at Faizabad, demanding humanitarian aid for Palestinians and a boycott of Israeli products. The protest caused disruptions in the city, affecting transportation services.
The conflict escalated with Hamas’ October attack on southern Israel, resulting in casualties on both sides, with significant civilian losses in Gaza according to local health authorities.
Since October 7, at least 38,848 Palestinians mostly women and children, have been killed and 89,459 others injured in the Israel’s war on Gaza, Palestinian’s health ministry said.
