ISLAMABAD: President of Pakistan Dr Arif Alvi on Tuesday praising the successful military operation to rescue eight persons stranded in a cable car in Battagram, urged the authorities to ensure safety of the local chairlifts.

The president in his remarks at social media platform X, formerly twitter that: I am ecstatic to learn about the safe rescue of all kids of the Battagram chairlift.

He praised all those who took part in the rescue operation including the military personnel, local rescuers and entire administration. He added the rescuers demonstrated commitment and bravery in the most critical operation.
The president also called upon the local authorities to conduct a comprehensive survey of all such local chairlifts to ensure the safety of the people in future.
The operation led by Army’s Special Services Group (SSG) continued for 13 hours. The incident occurred when a string of the cable car broke leaving it suspended at a height of 600 feet.
The rescue operation faced challenges due to gusty winds and the potential destabilization posed by helicopter rotor blades.
