Pakistani Musician Haniya Aslam Passes Away

ISLAMABAD: Prominent Pakistani musician and member of a musical band Haniya Aslam has passed away due to a heart attack.

The news of her passing away was shared by Zeb Bangash, who was the other half of the singing duo ‘Zeb and Haniya’, in a post on Instagram on Monday. She also posted a few photos of her cousin and musical partner with the caption “Hanini”.

The musician was considered one of the finest in Pakistan. In 2014, Haniya shifted to Canada to pursue a solo music career and learn more about the art.

The band, Zeb and Haniya, was also popular for their tracks like ‘Paimona’, ‘Chal Diye’ and Chup in Coke Studio Pakistan.

Haniya hailed from Pakistan’s northwestern Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) province and was an exceptional guitarist.

The deceased musician had also co-authored a book about Pakistan’s contemporary music. She also worked as a sound engineer for ‘Lala Begum’, a Pakistani short film produced in 2016. Haniya also produced music for a 2016 Pakistani romantic film ‘Dobara Phir Se’.

Her sudden death was a shock for her family, friends and fans not only in Pakistan but also across the border.

Celebrities and social media users have expressed deep grief over Haniya’s passing, offering prayers for her to be granted a high place in Jannah.
