ISLAMABAD: Pakistani mountaineering added another glorious chapter to its history as 25-year-old Sajid Ali Sadpara stood atop Mount Makalu, world’s fifth-highest peak, continuing the legacy of his legendary father while carving his own name among the elite climbers of the world.
According to the Alpine Club of Pakistan (ACP), Sajid reached the 8,485-metre (27,838 feet) summit at approximately 5:00 a.m. on Saturday as part of an international expedition team. Mount Makalu is located in the Mahalangur Himalayas, roughly 19 kilometres southeast of Mount Everest, along the Nepal-China border.

Rising star in mountaineering
The young climber has now successfully scaled nine of the world’s highest peaks, adding Makalu to an already impressive résumé. He is the son of the late legendary mountaineer Ali Sadpara, who remains an icon of Pakistani courage and endurance.
The Alpine Club of Pakistan, led by President Major General (retired) Irfan Arshad, extended heartfelt congratulations to Sajid, calling the achievement a moment of national pride and a testament to his exceptional skill, determination, and resilience.
Vice President Karrar Haidri also praised the accomplishment and wished him a safe descent back to base camp.
International expedition team
The successful summit bid was made by an international expedition team that included climbers from the United States, Italy, Spain, Germany, Canada, and France, highlighting the collaborative spirit of high-altitude mountaineering.
Sajid’s bold vision: All 14 Peaks
Speaking after his latest triumph, Sajid reaffirmed his ambition to summit all 14 of the world’s highest peaks, a feat achieved by only a handful of climbers globally.
He called for government support to help him achieve this goal while raising Pakistan’s flag on the global mountaineering stage.
