Pakistani Minister Vows to Boost Global Exports to $80 b

ISLAMABAD:  Pakistan’s Caretaker Minister for Commerce & Industries has vowed to increase Pakistan’s global exports to an impressive $80 billion.

Dr. Gohar Ejaz made the remarks during a meeting with European Union (EU) Ambassador to Pakistan Dr. Riina Kionka at the Ministry of Commerce on Thursday.

During the meeting, Ambassador Kionka congratulated Dr. Gohar Ejaz for assuming his office.

The minister expressed his gratitude for the EU’s unilateral trade concession of GSP Plus to Pakistan, highlighting the significant value of this concession for Pakistan’s export sector.

The Minister also shared his ambitious vision to increase Pakistan’s global exports to an impressive $80 billion. He highlighted the Ministry of Commerce’s proactive efforts in devising a comprehensive framework, focusing particularly on strategic export markets and high-potential products.

Underlining the EU-27 zone as the prime export destination for Pakistani businesses, Minister Ejaz stressed the importance of the GSP scheme’s continuity for Pakistan.

Ambassador Kionka lauded the Minister’s vision and conveyed the EU’s commitment to offer full support to the Ministry of Commerce in its endeavors.

Earlier today, the European Union Ambassador met with the Caretaker Minister of Human Rights, Mr. Khalil George, to discuss matters related to human rights, GSP Plus, and the mutual interests and commitments of Pakistan and the European Union to ensure human rights for all individuals.
