Pakistani IT Exports Soar by 22% in December 2023, Reaching $303 Million

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Information Technology exports witnessed an impressive surge of 22% in December 2023, totaling $303 million, as announced by Interim IT Minister Dr. Umar Saif.

He highlighted this significant milestone during an interview with PTV news channel, outlining the country’s commitment to fostering opportunities for its youth.

Dr. Saif emphasized the historic steps taken by Pakistan to facilitate the burgeoning workforce of freelancers and promote the growth of the IT industry. A notable initiative in this direction is the government’s plan to establish 10,000 co-working spaces across the country specifically designed for online freelancers.

Underlining the pivotal role of information and communications technology (ICT) in stabilizing and strengthening Pakistan’s economy, Dr. Saif expressed optimism about achieving the target of $10 billion. He reiterated the importance of continuity in these policies, indicating that the next government should sustain the momentum through ongoing reforms to uplift the IT industry.

Moreover, Dr. Saif urged financial institutions to embrace the ongoing digital transformation, encouraging them to leverage the power of artificial intelligence and innovative technologies.
