BEIJING: Usman, a Pakistani internet influencer and student at Beijing Language and Culture University, showcased his linguistic talent and cultural affinity at the Chinese Bridge – Chinese Proficiency Competition for Foreigners Around the Globe – Storytelling Contest in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province.
Local media reported that the competition, hosting 49 contestants from 37 countries, provided a platform for participants to demonstrate their proficiency in Chinese and share personal stories connecting them to China.
Usman captivated the audience with his fluent Chinese and heartfelt narratives centered around “My First Time with China,” expressing deep admiration for Chinese language and culture.
Reflecting on his experience, Usman remarked, “My participation in this competition has inspired me to further pursue Chinese studies. I’ve come to appreciate how language can bridge understanding between people of diverse backgrounds.” He added, “My future plans include advancing my Chinese proficiency and leveraging my influencer platform to foster cultural exchanges between Pakistan and China.”
Throughout the contest, participants also explored various scenic locales in Hunan, such as the breathtaking Tianmenshan Mountain, enriching their appreciation for the region’s natural beauty and cultural heritage.
