WASHINGTON: Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States has termed August 5, 2019, as a Black Day in the history of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK), urging the international community to take serious notice of India’s brutalities in the disputed region.
He made the remarks at an event organized by Pakistan’s Embassy in Washington to mark the Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir. Masood Khan said that India’s illegal act to cancel the special status of IIOJK was completely against the people of Kashmir.
While addressing the event Masood Khan termed August 5, 2019, as a Black Day in the history of occupied Kashmir. He said the people of Kashmir are facing atrocity and brutality being committed by Modi’s government.
Pakistani Envoy Asks World to Take Notice of Indian Atrocities in IIOJK
The ambassador urged the world to take notice of the Indian barbaric acts and human rights violations in the Indian-occupied region. Pakistani and Kashmiri diaspora in the US also attended the event and expressed solidarity with the people of IIOJK.
Similarly, an event observing ‘Youm-i-Istehsal’ in solidarity with the people of IIOJK was also held at Los Angeles Consulate General.
In a statement via social media account, the Consulate General said that the Consul General outlined all the illegal measures taken by the India to strip Kashmiris of their basic rights. He also underlined all the steps taken by Pakistan to draw attention to the issue and encouraged the participants to keep raising their voices in support of the people of Kashmir.

On August 5, 2019, the Indian government, led by the Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP), revoked Articles 370 and 35-A of the Indian Constitution, revoking the special status of Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK).
On the occasion, of Youm-e-Istehsal Kashmir Pakistan’s President Dr. Arif Alvi, condemned India’s actions in IIOJK on 5th August 2019. He said that India is attempting to disempower and dispossess the Kashmiri people in their own soil, with the aim of permanently occupying the disputed region and erasing its distinct Kashmiri character.
In a message, Pakistan’s Prime Minister Sharif also strongly condemned India’s use of force and violence to suppress the people of Kashmir and New Delhi’s attempts to alter the disputed status of IIOJK.
Earlier, Chinese Foreign Ministry reaffirmed its longstanding position on the Kashmir issue ahead of “Yaum-e-Istehsal-e-Kashmir” (Kashmir Exploitation Day) and urged for a proper and peaceful resolution of the dispute under the United Nations (UN) Charter, relevant UN Security Council (UNSC) resolutions, and bilateral agreements.
The day serves as a protest against India’s actions, which are perceived as an attempt to alter the demographic makeup of Occupied Jammu and Kashmir and erode the distinct identity of the Kashmiri people.
