Pakistani Diaspora in Qatar Significantly Contribute to Make FIFA WC Success

DOHA: Hundreds of Pakistani migrants and students are contributing to the execution of FIFA World Cup 2022 to make the mega-event a success.

Though the Pakistan football team could not reach to an international FIFA tournament, the country is still contributing to the game, by producing high-quality football products in its Sialkot’s sports industry.

Maryam Khalid, who works as a commentary assistant for Qatar’s broadcasting department, told APP that her experience as an internee at the FIFA event in Qatar would be helpful in achieving her future goals. She said that internees like her were trained by professionals and FIFA staff is very cooperative.

Muhammad Saad, a Qatar-based Pakistani, was is also participating in the mega-event as a volunteer in the legal department. Saad said that he was very happy to get the opportunity and exposure to a such great event.

Saad’s role is to monitor any illegal commercial activities and report it to the relevant authorities.

Abu Bakar Majeed Bin Abdul Rab is another Pakistani assisting in the Host Broadcasting Services, the company that has managed a number of mega sports events including 2002, 2006, 2010, 2014, 2018 and the current 2022 edition of the FIFA World Cup.

Abu Bakar said that being an IT assistant he started his work well before the mega-event which would till a week after the event concluded. He along with other staff set up and distribute over 750 corporate laptops and more than 2500 corporate phones to the World Cup staff. –APP
