ISLAMABAD: Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) Foreign Ministers met with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar represented Pakistan at the meeting, according to state-run Radio Pakistan.

President Xi Jinping emphasised the importance of regional cooperation among SCO member states.

Deputy Prime Minister Dar discussed regional peace in his meeting with President Xi.

Pakistan-Kazakh ties

Meanwhile, Pakistan and Kazakhstan have reaffirmed the resolve to deepen their bilateral ties and expand collaboration across regional and multilateral for a, Radio Pakistan reported.

This came at a meeting between Deputy Prime Minister Dar and Kazakh Deputy Prime Minister Murat Nurtleu on the margin of the meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Exchange of views

Earlier, Pakistani deputy prime minister also exchanged views with foreign ministers of Iran, Uzbekistan, and Belarus.

“Good to catch up with Foreign Ministers of Iran, Uzbekistan, and Belarus on the sidelines of the SCO CFM in Beijing, just before our joint call on Chinese President Xi at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing,” Dar said in a post on X.

“Always good to exchange views for strengthening regional understanding and cooperation in such a challenging time,” he added.

Commitment to ties with Kyrgyzstan

Pakistani Deputy Prime Minister Dar also met the foreign minister of Kyrgyzstan.

In a post on X, Dar said: “Pleased to meet Brother Foreign Minister of Kyrgyzstan, Kulubaev Zheenbek Moldokanovic, at the Great Hall in Beijing on the margins of the meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping.”

“Reaffirmed our commitment to the longstanding bilateral relationship and to enhancing collaboration across all areas of mutual interest,” he added.
