RAWALPINDI: In yet another distressing incident of ceasefire violation, an elderly Pakistani civilian was martyred, and three women, who were engaged in cutting grass in the fields, were brutally injured as the Indian Army resorted to unprovoked firing in the Nikial Sector across the Line of Control (LoC) here on Monday. The military’s media wing, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), confirmed the unfortunate event.

In a statement, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said the incident occurred in Village Oli Kotli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK).

According to ISPR, the Indian Army targeted innocent civilians in the Nikial Sector, which led to the loss of life of a 60-year-old individual named Ghias. Hailing from Village Oli in Kotli district of Azad Jammu and Kashmir, the victim was a resident of the area. Additionally, the unprovoked firing caused distress and trauma to several Pakistani women who were engaged in cutting grass in the fields during the time of the incident.

Indian Forces’ Continuous Ceasefire Violations

This act of aggression by the Indian forces constitutes a stark violation of the existing Ceasefire Understandings, sparking outrage from Islamabad. While Pakistan remains committed to the pursuit of peace and tranquility along its borders, it asserts that all necessary measures will be undertaken to safeguard the lives and property of its citizens.

The ISPR reaffirmed Pakistan’s stance that any misadventure against its people will be met with a fitting response at a time and place of the nation’s choosing. The nation’s leadership underscores the importance of adhering to established protocols and agreements to prevent further loss of innocent civilian lives due to unprovoked hostilities.

The commitment to safeguarding its citizens and upholding the principles of peace remains unwavering, as Pakistan continues to call for a cessation of hostilities and the protection of civilian lives in the region.
