LONDON: Acclaimed Pakistani actress Hania Aamir has been honoured with a Recognition Award at the UK Parliament in recognition of her contributions to the entertainment industry and her influence on global audiences.
The award ceremony was hosted by British Member of Parliament Afzal Khan in the Jubilee Room of the House of Commons on Monday, with prominent members of the British Pakistani community, media representatives, and social figures in attendance.
Expressing her gratitude, Aamir said, “It is an absolute honour to be here, and it means a lot to me. I hope we continue to entertain people through our work and make Pakistan proud.”
She also acknowledged the importance of solidarity among Pakistani artists and the strength of the diaspora community.
“We have a very strong community, and I hope we continue to support each other in whichever way we can,” she added.
Aamir took the opportunity to thank the women in the entertainment industry who have paved the way for the next generation, stating that she would do everything in her capacity to make it easier for others to follow in their footsteps.
Afzal Khan MP commended Aamir’s contributions, describing her as “a major force in the arts and culture sector, deserving of appreciation for both her talent and humility.”
The event, organised by Samara Events UK, highlighted Aamir’s impact on international audiences. Dr Sarah Naseem, wife of Pakistan’s High Commissioner to the UK, was also present at the ceremony.
Aamir, who has gained widespread popularity at home and abroad, has recently been linked to Sardaar Ji 3, an upcoming Punjabi-language film starring Diljit Dosanjh and Neeru Bajwa.
However, when asked about her Bollywood debut, she remained tight-lipped, saying she could not confirm any details at this stage.
Speaking about her now-viral moment at Dosanjh’s London concert last year, where the singer invited her on stage and serenaded her with his hit song Lover, Aamir remarked, “That moment created a lot of positivity. Art is art, and whatever the differences—political or otherwise—should not come between humanity and the arts.”
Aamir, known for her roles in ‘Mere Humsafar’ and the recent hit drama ‘Kabhi Main Kabhi Tum’, where she starred alongside Fahad Mustafa, is currently one of Pakistan’s most-followed celebrities on social media.
She has also made a name for herself in fashion and brand collaborations, enjoying significant popularity among audiences in both Pakistan and India.
Other Pakistani entertainment icons, including Bushra Ansari, Mahira Khan, and Fahad Mustafa, have also been honoured at the UK Parliament in recent years for their contributions to the arts and media industry.
While jokingly mentioning that she had been spending so much time in the UK that she might consider relocating to London, Aamir confirmed that she would soon return to Pakistan to celebrate Eid with her family and friends.
