KARACHI: Pakistan’s women’s volleyball player Azra Farooq has been named the Most Valuable Player (MVP) at the Kings Cup Volleyball tournament held in the Maldives. Azra, who played for the MK Club, delivered an exceptional performance that stood out throughout the tournament.
Azra Farooq’s contributions were crucial in leading her Milton Keynes-based team to victory in all four of their matches. Her consistent excellence on the court earned her the title of Best Player in each game, culminating in her team’s overall triumph in the tournament.
In a remarkable individual achievement, Azra secured six trophies at the tournament, which include four Player of the Match awards, the coveted MVP award, and a Top 6 Player award. Her stellar performance not only highlighted her skills but also showcased the rising prominence of Pakistani women athletes on the global stage.
Azra’s success at the Kings Cup is a significant milestone for both her personal career and Pakistan’s women’s volleyball. Her achievements resonate deeply within the sports community, reinforcing the capability of Pakistani athletes to compete and excel internationally.
This tournament marked Azra’s second stint with a club in the Maldives. Previously, she and her teammate Muqaddas Bukhari made history by becoming the first Pakistani women to be signed by a volleyball club outside Pakistan. The duo’s earlier venture was with the Al-Fawz club for the MZC Ladies’ Cup, setting a precedent for future generations of Pakistani female athletes.
