ISLAMABAD: Pakistan women’s cricket captain Fatima Sana has set her sights on carrying forward the team’s momentum as they prepare for their upcoming three-match T20 International series against Ireland, scheduled from August 6 to 10 at the Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin.

Fresh off an undefeated run in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 Qualifiers, where they outplayed Ireland in a gripping 38-run win, Fatima says her squad is not only motivated but evolving.

“We’re building on our strengths and ready for the challenge,” she told during a press interaction at the National Stadium, Karachi.

“Despite different playing conditions in Ireland, our batters are confident. The Qualifiers went well, and we’re looking to continue that momentum, especially as we work on developing our T20I side.”

ICC Women’s World Cup 2025

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) recently unveiled the 15-member squad, with Fatima retaining captaincy and leading a group that’s steadily growing in both skill and self-belief.

The upcoming Ireland tour is more than just a bilateral series — it’s a crucial stepping stone.

With the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025 fast approaching, the team is in sharpening mode, with a 27-day training camp in Karachi just concluded, and a more focused camp for the selected squad starting July 28 to August 2 before departure on August 3.

Spirits High

Top-order batter Muneeba Ali, a key architect in Pakistan’s World Cup qualification success, emphasised that while formats may differ, focus remains sharp.

“We’re working on both T20Is and the 50-over format. We’ve identified our weak areas from the Qualifiers and have tried to improve on them during the camp. We want to build on the positives,” said Muneeba.

Fatima, meanwhile, is not just leading from the front — she’s filling gaps wherever needed.

“I try to contribute in every department — be it batting, bowling, or fielding. I’ve been working on improving my batting so I can support the team in all ways possible.”

Bigger Battles Ahead

After the Ireland tour, Pakistan will host South Africa for three ODIs in Lahore from September 16 to 22 — their final international assignment before the World Cup.

The ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, scheduled from September 30 to November 2, will be hosted in India, but Pakistan will play all their matches in Sri Lanka under the hybrid model due to ongoing political tensions between the two nations.

Among the marquee matchups is the high-voltage Pakistan vs India clash on October 5, followed by games against Australia (Oct 8), England (Oct 15), New Zealand (Oct 18), South Africa (Oct 21), and Sri Lanka (Oct 24) in the round-robin stage.
